Help Keep Southend Clean and Tidy
Over the past 18 months the council has seen an increase in household waste being presented incorrectly for collection. This includes waste being put out for collection on the wrong day, waste being put out after collection times, incorrect items being put out for collection, and items being put out in the wrong bags or containers.
It is important that this changes as it can cause issues in the surrounding environment. You may see more animals scavenging in the area, and more split rubbish bags spilling onto the street making it unpleasant to live on.
Please remember to put your waste out for collection by 7am on the correct collection day for your area, placing it as close to the edge of your property as possible and not blocking the footpath. Check your collection day online.
If your waste is not collected, you can report a missed collection on MySouthend.
Make sure that you are presenting your waste in the correct bags or boxes.
- Small electrical items must be placed in a plastic shopping bag alongside the rest of your waste on your usual collection day.
- Garden waste can be collected for an additional charge.
- For any bulky items, you can take them to a nearby Household Waste Recycling Centre or book a chargeable collection.
Check the rules on how to present your waste.
Presenting waste correctly can lead to cleaner streets and happier neighbourhoods!
