Asbestos Awareness Week

Prior to use being banned, asbestos was used in many products including insulation material for buildings, boilers, and pipes; car brakes and floor tiles.

If you are not sure if your property has asbestos but think that it might, please get in touch with us before carrying out any DIY work, and we will be able to confirm this if so.

Asbestos is not considered harmful when it is in large pieces and is left undamaged, if it is damaged then small fibres can be released and breathed in which can lead to a condition called Asbestosis.

If you know that you have asbestos in your home and that it is in good condition, then it is best not to disturb it as it is safest staying where it is. If you are redecorating, you should always wear a protective facemask and avoid breaking up any surfaces that may contain asbestos. If you are in doubt, please give us a call on 0800 833 160 for advice.
